Deputy Ladene Holmes of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department responds to a call of a family’s stolen puppy. The family returned home from an outing to find out the newest addition to their family was missing. The father of the family was alerted by a neighbor that a young man used a ladder to climb onto their balcony and retrieved their puppy. Deputy Holmes was able to track down the male suspect who lives in a nearby apartment. Deputy Holmes confronts the young man who quickly admits he took the puppy due to his fear that it was being mistreated after he heard it whimpering. The suspect is detained but later released due to the cooperation of the male suspect and the grateful family. Deputy Holmes explains to the young man that although his intentions were good he still committed theft and suggested how to better handle the situation next time. The father’s daughters are thrilled to have their puppy back.
