While on patrol Officer Andrew Van Gundy initiates a traffic stop after witnessing a vehicle swerve in and out of lanes. Officer Van Gundy pursues the male driver who refuses to stop. The driver bypasses two stops signs before crashing into a driveway and hitting two parked cars. Officer Van Gundy rushes to assist the man who is stuck inside the vehicle. He breaks through the driver side window and attempts to get the driver out of the car but the door is jammed. Back-up officers arrive and they pull the male driver out through the passenger side door. As the man is exiting the vehicle, he slurs his words as he apologizes for being an alcoholic. Officer Van Gundy alerts the tenant of the incident. The tenant and his family were getting ready for bed when they heard a loud noise but presumed the accident occurred down the street. The driver is taken to the hospital before going to jail for driving under the influence and felony evading.
