Officer Keith Wright of the Springfield, MO Police Department provides backup for an officer who has detained a male shoplifter at a local hardware store. When Wright arrives at the parking lot of the hardware store, he learns that the shoplifter’s female accomplice is waiting for him in a car that is parked nearby. Officer Wright moves to detain the woman and a struggle ensues. After the woman has been successfully detained, a search of the vehicle turns up pills, dirty needles, and a handgun. Both suspects have warrants and are taken to jail. The arresting officers receive notification shortly thereafter that the suspect vehicle is wanted in connection to a homicide in another jurisdiction. As a result of this arrest, both suspects were later connected to and convicted of a homicide that had happened just days earlier in Pulaski County, MO.
