While on patrol, officers Green and Honl of the Portland Police Bureau notice a woman riding a bike with no lights on the sidewalk. The officers quickly recognizer her as someone with an active warrant and attempt to make a traffic stop. The woman ignores the lights and repeated commands over the PA to stop. The pursuit goes on for over 5 mins, with her yelling “Don’t hurt me” and then yells, “can I snort my heroin before I go to jail?”. She finally gets tired and gets off the bike. The woman had thrown several items during the pursuit that were retrieved and found to be heroin, Xanax and drug paraphernalia. The woman has a lengthy conversation with officers about how she needs and wants to get off drugs and that she has a serious problem and recently switched to heroin as her drug of choice and can’t get over the addiction. She is arrested and sent to jail for her outstanding warrant of vehicle theft.
